Using ten Michigan locations, the film is fresh, and it really pops. It’s not just another coming of age whine-fest, but a powerful story of finding where you belong and rocking out with it. The characters are raw, the bruises are real and victories are definitely earned.

“I’m just so grateful that it’s all personal and I got to direct and it’s just been this amazing journey and I was so excited to come back here. I think that our personal connection is so important. There’s that old school side of me where there’s nothing like coming and personally saying thank you - thank you for being here. I’m the grateful one, I promise you.” Drew Barrymore

bbwebThe Uncommon Bob Brown

Bob Brown Producer and Managing Partner of Charity Island Pictures is a self proclaimed “hometown guy” from Farmington Michigan. When first introduced to Jeff Daniels, his business partner in their production company Purple Rose Films, Jeff said “hey I know you.” Bob replied “no we never met.” ”Well I know your name” replied Jeff. “There’s got to be a dozen of me walking around Chelsea” joked Bob.

Despite his Michigan roots and common name, Brown is everything but common in Michigan’s evolving Film Industry. As managing partner with Daniels in Purple Rose Films, Brown produced Escanaba in da Moonlight, one of the highest grossing independent films in 2001, and Super Sucker, winner of HBO’s Comedy Arts festival in 2002. Randy Ryan and I meet in a hotel’s cafe veranda in downtown Indianapolis where his most recent film, Adrenaline Motion Picture’s Amanda wraps production the following day. “The sandwiches are great here.” He squints his eyes in the sunshine, “…think I’ll try the Hot Head today.” This isn’t his first stay in Indiana.
