An Interview with Megan Hartig

Megan Hartig is an up and coming actress from Port Huron Michigan.   Megan was familiar with the Legend of Morrow Road growing up and told an MMM staff reporter “growing up only thirty minutes from the road, I was asked by my friends several times to visit the ghost.   Although I was too frightened to visit, they all came back scared out of their wits.” Megan has been cast in Morrow Road as Olivia Holland, one of the supporting roles.

MMM reporter Stef Piermattie caught up with Megan Hartig in Manhatten:

MMM: How did you get involved with Morrow Road?

Megan: I was in high school taking a Communications Arts class and Francis had cast a classmate in a small role in Morrow Road. I video-taped the interview as part of the crew for our school’s local TV station.  After the interview my teacher introduced me to Francis and asked that he keep me in mind for the film.  Francis had me audition on the spot.

MMM: Wow, just like that?  How did you prepare for the audition?

Megan: Francis took the script from the website and I did a cold read. And then he had me do some improv and video-taped the audition.

MMM: What did you know about the story of Morrow Road?

Megan: It’s a Michigan legend, it’s very old.  It was on Unsolved Mysteries.  I knew nothing about the film when I auditioned for it. My friends would go out there and I never went out of fear.  I’ve been close by, but never out there.  I’m sure it will still be really creepy when we’re there shooting.  I’m very excited though.

MMM: What kind of character do you play in Morrow Road?

Megan: She is the rudest character.  She’s a total snob and very materialistic.  It was a lot of fun to play.  It’s a great project, the writing is amazing.  I’m very proud to be part of this high quality project.

MMM: Will all the filming take place in MI?

Megan: The whole film will be shot in MI.

MMM: Have you done any acting for film in MI before?

Megan: I’ve only done extra work before this. In my Communications Arts class I was lead anchor and weather girl.  I would also sing during holiday specials for school.

MMM: What are you working on in NY?

Megan: My school is a performance conservatory.  The program I am in is integrated with singing, acting and dancing.  I will be graduating from the 2 year program in May.  If I decide to get my BA, I will transfer to the LA campus. I’ve been in NY for about two years.

MMM: What is the most important thing actors just starting out in Michigan can do?

Megan: Get training at a credible school because networking is the most important thing in this business.  Through school you are hopefully going to get a lot of exposure, get good auditions and have proper representatives.  The work is not just going to come to you. Also, working as an extra was great for me to get a feeling of how things flow, what expectations there are and how a professional set works.

I was willing to overcome a fear in visiting Morrow Road in hopes of making my dreams a reality, and that’s what everyone in Michigan has to do right now.
